Our experienced clinicians offer a multi-disciplinary approach
We know how stressful it can be to access the timely diagnosis you need. We can help reduce this worry by offering a comprehensive face-to-face assessment, combining our individual clinical skills with recognised formal assessments.
Spectrum North West began life in 2013 when its founders were working together in the NHS. As experienced practitioners with many years working in UK statutory services they felt it was time to set up in independent practice, initially assessing for autism, and then widening the service to include assessment for other neurodevelopment conditions.
As demand grew, other respected NHS colleagues were invited to work within the Spectrum North West umbrella, and many of them continue to work in the NHS. Over the years our core offer has widened to include therapies and interventions.
At Spectrum, we currently assess for autism and ADHD, alongside other assessments such as cognitive ability, speech and language profile and sensory processing differences. We provide assessments for children with SEND in education.
We offer people a way forward, improving their wellbeing with an increased understanding of their strengths and difficulties gained through our assessments. Although we have to work within a diagnostic model, we believe that all neurodivergent people have inherent strengths and qualities, while sometimes finding it difficult to live in a world set up for neurotypical people, especially during school years.
Women and girls
We’re passionate about ensuring females can access the diagnosis they need to thrive by helping them make sense of their world. We recognise the bias in diagnostic assessments and adapt our assessments accordingly.
Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA) assessment
We provide profiling and develop effective strategies to help those with a PDA-profile of autism better understand themselves, and help others to understand their needs.
